Alphonse (Bernard) is a freelance photojournalist shooting for the main French & European magazines. Originally a documentary filmmaker, Bernard switched to photography in the mid 1970’s after a stint as a journalist for a provincial newspaper. After studying at the National Institute of Audio Visual in Paris, he became assistant to film makers. A few years later he starts directing specialising in corporate advertising and documentaries.1988, weary of the corporate environment, took the opportunity to travel to Vietnam and Indochina to produce independent films and documentaries. Entranced by the culture and people, he stayed for another 7 years, establishing the Ana Mandara Resort at Nha Trang, which had previously been the US Army Special Forces camp during the Vietnam conflict.In the mid nineties, he returned to Paris to focus on documentary films specialising in photography and photojournalism. His film on photojournalist Tim Page won several euro awards and now he hones in on addressing social, global, and environmental issues.Now he has returned to the purity of still photography.
